In The Boutique

Unique, elegant, and WOW! are the three words we hear most often when visitors enter the Boutique. We have combined the skills of talented artisans from around the world to offer a unique blend of home décor and gift selections not found at other gift or garden stores. Many of the selections have stories about the artist and the product. Sculptured vases signed by the artist, exquisite stained glass, vintage purses and scarves, limited edition carved goose-egg music and jewelry boxes. Hand carved wood and metal nautical and tropical home and wall décor. Countryside Gardens (test marketed) line of delicious dips, jams, dressings, and sauces. We sometimes have a hard time keeping enough of these on the shelves especially near the holidays. Countryside Gardens candle selection, made from American grown soy beans are created to exact specifications exclusively for us. Our soy candles burn longer and cleaner then traditional candles. Ask us why our candles are better! Scented drawer liners, potpourri, tripled milled European soaps, and Shea butter lotions. The list goes on and on and on. Come see for yourself!!!

Annuals

A huge selection of colorful seasonal annuals will greet you at Countryside Gardens. You’ll see everything from petunias to pansies as you stroll through tables full of old favorites, and many new introductions and exciting unusual plants such as the cigar plant, tiger paw, Easter egg plant, Persian shield, Mexican sunflower, ruellia, cleome, streptocarpus, shrimp plant, anagallis, alternatera, cats whiskers and the list goes on and on. A visit to Countryside Gardens will have friends and neighbors asking, “What is that and where did you find it ?”

Perennials

The owner’s favorite is rare and unusual perennials so expect to find the rare and unusual along with the top ten industry sellers. From stepable groundcovers to evergreen perennials, your landscaping will look great all year round.

Houseplants

Expect the unexpected with hard to find plants, such as chenille, pitcher plant, kangaroo paw, cardboard palm, staghorn fern, string of hearts. The old favorites are here too, including peace lily, spider plant, ficus, pothos, palms, schefflera, rubber trees, cactus and succulents. Designer dish gardens are available for quick pickup.

Trees and Shrubs

Trees and shrubs are available year round. Did you know as long as the ground isn’t frozen you can plant trees and shrubs? Your only limitation is the availability of plant material. While selection in winter is limited, we do carry over trees and shrubs for those who like to work in cooler weather. Our best selection is in the spring, but new material starts arriving in February. Special requests are our challenge - if we don’t have something that you want we’ll search for it - just for you!

Water Garden Plants

With the first sign of spring, our water garden plants arrive. We carry what our employees have in their ponds and fountains, so they are tried and true favorites for the Tidewater area.

Herbs and Vegetables

Spring and fall brings your favorite vegetable plants and seed selections. Plants normally available in-season include: tomatoes, onions, potatoes, peppers, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, lettuce, pak choi, cauliflower, broccoli, Swiss chard, collards, eggplant, cucumber, zucchini, cabbage and the list goes on and on.

In spring, we carry 100 varieties of medicinal, ornamental and evergreen herbs. Many cooking herbs are available year round, such as tea camellia for green tea, stevia a natural sweetener, patchouli for potpourri, lemongrass and pennyroyal for repelling insects.

Our annual herb seminars and taste testing sessions are always a hit.

Lawn and Garden Supplies

Our supply house has everything a gardener needs. Organic fertilizer including rose, bulb, flower, garden, holly, Plant-Tone and Rich Earth are available at the lowest prices in town. From critter control to weed control. From fertilizer to grass seed. Tools, tree stakes, netting, sprayers, weed cloth, hoses, and sprinklers are only a few of the items.

Landscape Design

One hour consultations are offered at your home or business location. We can evaluate your current landscape, determine what you want and offer you general ideas on how you might implement the design yourself or with a contractor. For an additional fee, a professional custom design can be drawn to improve that all important “curb appeal”.

Bird Houses and Feeders

To attract and feed our fine feathered friends, we carry designs from rustic to decorative. Our feeders fit the needs for hummingbirds and finches among others. We even have the Yankee Flipper one of our squirrel proof feeders that you can see in action. From butterflies to bats, bird baths to bluebirds, we offer a nice selection of products for your garden or as a great gift.

In The Pottery

Our Pottery barn is overflowing with all sizes of clay and plastic pots and saucers. Unique over the deck rail and mailbox pots, herb and stackable garden pots are very popular. Trellises, basket liners, watering cans, stepping stones, plant stands, wrought iron shepherd hooks and brackets are available. Additional pottery can be found in the greenhouse including large foam and plastic, hand painted, ceramic, violet, orchid, bonsai, and self watering pots. Other specialty items including soils and fertilizers can be found there as well.
